95th Graduation Ceremony of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional: Realizing Sustainable Development Through Enhancing Education Quality
Denpasar – On Saturday, July 6, 2024, the 95th Graduation Ceremony of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) was held at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali. The event was attended by distinguished guests, members of the academic community, including the graduates’ families, and other invited guests. Also in attendance was Dr. ATNIKE NOVA SIGIRO, M.Sc., Chairperson of the Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM), who was present to sign an MoU with Undiknas and deliver a Scientific Oration before the graduates.
In his speech, the Rector of Undiknas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nyoman Sri Subawa, S.T., S.Sos., M.M., IPM., ASEAN.Eng., expressed his gratitude and pride in the achievements of the graduates. He emphasized the importance of higher education in realizing the goals of sustainable development, particularly in the aspects of improving education quality, access, inclusivity, and international collaboration.
“Educational institutions play an active role in achieving the fourth SDG, ‘Quality Education.’ All levels of education, including higher education, are required to constantly innovate and improve the quality of education so that it ultimately contributes to the welfare of society,” he stated.
Undiknas has developed various innovations in teaching methods, including the development of a Learning Management System (LMS) that supports blended learning. This commitment is also reflected in the acquisition of a grant for the Development of Mandatory Course Learning Models in Higher Education Curriculum (MKWK) in 2024 from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
Furthermore, as a university, the Rector also highlighted Undiknas’ continuous efforts to increase access to education for underprivileged communities through various scholarship programs.
“Undiknas provides educational assistance (scholarships) to reach outstanding prospective students from disadvantaged backgrounds, remote areas, and minority groups. This aligns with the government’s vision to create a smart Indonesia through superior human resources,” he added.
This policy not only applies to domestic students but also to international students wishing to continue their studies at Undiknas. Various international collaborations have been established with institutions such as Teesside University UK and GTNT Group – Institute of Skills and Training Australia, serving as concrete evidence of Undiknas’ efforts to strengthen its international reputation and achieve the golden generation of 2030. This is also reflected in Undiknas being ranked 1st in Bali, 44th in Indonesia, and +1501 globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024.
At this graduation ceremony, Undiknas proudly graduated 202 students from various study programs, both undergraduate and master’s levels. Additionally, special recognition was given to graduates with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) from each study program. They are Ni Putu Dea Arina Lestari (Management), Ni Komang Pebriyanti (Accounting), Intan Brilian Patricia J. Ana (Public Administration), Ketut Ade Rahayuni (Communication Studies), Albinia Kireyna (Law), I Made Lanang Manik Arya Wangsa (Civil Engineering), Gde Agus Sujayana (Electrical Engineering), Gusi Ayu Tantyana Wira Devi (Information Technology), I Made Dwija Pramana Putra (Master of Management), Desak Ayu Candra Wahyuni (Master of Public Administration), and Nyoman Arjana (Master of Law).
In addition to academic achievements, awards were also given to active students who had excelled at the international level. Among them, I Gede Ketut Bagus Suardana and Ni Putu Yulina Aprilia Kusuma from Undiknas’ International Business Management program successfully participated in studies at HELP University, Malaysia, in the Bachelor of Management (Hons) program. Meanwhile, Ni Kadek Tia Puspita from the same program successfully participated in a study transfer to Edith Cowan University, Australia, in the Bachelor of Commerce program. These achievements reflect the quality of education and the support provided by Undiknas in developing its students’ potential.
The 95th Graduation Ceremony of Universitas Pendidikan Nasional marks an important milestone in the graduates’ journey toward a bright future.
