Denpasar Denpasar ā The School Environment Introduction Program (MPLS) at TK Sila Kumara for the 2024-2025 academic year was carried out with an innovative approach through a Parenting Class event themed “Preparing for School with the Tri Education Center.” This event was attended by the parents of new students joining the small kindergarten class. (19/7/2024)
The Parenting Class aimed to help parents understand the importance of the initial adjustment period when children first enter school. During the session, the Psychology team from Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) invited parents to discuss their crucial role in supporting their children psychologically during this transition. Parents were also provided with guidelines on how to apply parenting practices that can assist their children in adapting to their new school environment.
The three main objectives of the event were:
- Membantu orangtua memahami pentingnya masa penyesuaian bagi anak saat pertama kali masuk sekolah.
- Helping parents understand the importance of the adjustment period for children when they first enter school.
- Membangun kerjasama yang erat antara orangtua dan sekolah dalam menciptakan lingkungan yang mendukung kesejahteraan anak.
Providing guidance on how to support children psychologically during this adjustment process.
Building strong cooperation between parents and the school in creating a supportive environment for the childrenās well-being.
The Undiknas Psychology team facilitated discussions and brainstorming sessions with parents regarding behaviors and parenting patterns that could be implemented to help children adapt to the new school environment. This approach is expected to foster synergy between the school and parents, which will positively impact the development and readiness of the children as they progress to higher levels of education.
This event aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. It also emphasizes the importance of access to quality early childhood development, so that children are ready to enter primary education with optimal preparation.
Through this Parenting Class, Undiknas Psychology hopes to make a significant contribution in supporting quality early childhood education, as well as strengthening collaboration between parents and schools to enhance the well-being of children in the future.
