Second Day of Bali Beyond Borders: Exploring Language and ASEAN Economy at Undiknas
Denpasar – The international Bali Beyond Borders program at Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) entered its second day on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, featuring interactive classes and field visits that deepened participants’ understanding of Indonesian culture and the ASEAN economy.
The day began with an “Introduction to Bahasa” session, led by Undiknas lecturer Putu Intan Permatasari, S.Pd., M.Pd. This session introduced the basics of the Indonesian language, helping participants further understand local culture through language. Participants’ enthusiasm was evident through their active interactions, which fostered cross-cultural connections throughout the program.
The session continued with “The Economy of ASEAN” class, delivered by I Gusti Ngurah Gede Agung Pradipta, S.IP., M.Si. In this session, participants learned about ASEAN’s economic dynamics, as well as the opportunities and challenges in the region, including Indonesia’s role in the regional economy. This knowledge was vital for equipping participants with insights into business opportunities and economic strategies relevant to ASEAN.
After lunch, participants proceeded with a field visit to Sanur Market. This activity provided them with a firsthand look at local business practices and the trade patterns employed by entrepreneurs in Bali’s traditional markets. The Sanur Market visit also offered a chance for participants to learn about local cultural values that shape the economy.
The day concluded with group project discussions, where participants were guided by Ni Made Prasiwi Bestari, S.IP., M.Par., and Gusti Ayu Kade Dhea Pramesti, S.S. This session aimed to help participants develop innovative ideas to be presented at the end of the program. Each group worked collaboratively to formulate strategies relevant for SMEs entering the ASEAN market, based on main themes such as culture, sustainability, business strategy, and political dynamics.
During today’s session, participants were expected to generate ideas that could help SMEs face challenges and leverage opportunities in ASEAN, while strengthening their cross-cultural collaboration skills.
The second day of Bali Beyond Borders not only enhanced participants’ understanding of Indonesia’s economy and language but also strengthened their global competence in adaptation and collaboration. With support from the Undiknas team, this program became a holistic learning experience, combining theory and hands-on practice in an environment rich with cross-cultural engagement.
