Bali Beyond Border Day 5: Exploring ASEAN HR Strategies and Hospitality Industry Experience
Denpasar, January 9, 2025 – The Bali Beyond Border program at Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) once again provided participants with both educational and practical experiences on its fifth day. Today’s focus centered on understanding Human Resources (HR) practices in the ASEAN region and gaining deeper insights into Bali’s hospitality industry through a Company Visit.
The day began with a class titled “Recruitment and HR in ASEAN” held at the Social Lab in the Undiknas Building, led by Ni Putu Ari Krismajayanti, S.M., M.M.. The session explored the dynamics of human resource management in Southeast Asia, including recruitment strategies, talent management, and the importance of cultural awareness in multinational work environments.
Participants learned how companies in ASEAN manage cultural diversity, maintain team productivity, and build adaptive HR systems amidst rapid technological developments and globalization. The discussion also emphasized the vital role of HR in creating inclusive, healthy, and innovative workplaces, especially in service industries such as hospitality and tourism.
Following the academic session, participants embarked on a Company Visit to BluZea Hotel / Double Six Seminyak, a renowned five-star hotel known for its exclusive services and stunning Seminyak beach views. During this visit, participants gained firsthand insights into hotel management, covering operational strategies, customer service standards, and HR approaches to managing diverse teams.
The hotel’s management team shared valuable insights regarding recruitment processes and staff training in the hospitality industry, as well as the challenges of maintaining high-quality service amidst the fierce competition in Bali’s tourism sector. Participants also had the opportunity to engage directly with the management team, ask questions about hospitality business management, and learn how the hotel balances quality service with environmental sustainability.
The day concluded with a “Time for Group Project” session, where participants discussed and processed the experiences they had gained throughout the program. This group discussion aimed to prepare them for their final presentation, which would summarize their learning, insights, and propose innovative solutions relevant to the Bali Beyond Border program’s themes.
The fifth day served as an important session for participants to connect academic theories with real-world practices, particularly in the context of human resource management and the tourism industry that forms the backbone of Bali’s economy.
Through this initiative, Undiknas aims not only to enrich participants’ academic knowledge but also to broaden their professional perspectives. The Bali Beyond Border program remains committed to shaping a young generation ready to compete on a global level, equipped with cross-cultural understanding, leadership skills, and social empathy.
