Health Services in Kesiman Kertalangu Village: Undiknas Collaboration for Collective Welfare
Denpasar, April 19, 2024 – Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas) collaborates with the Health Department, National Nurses Association, John Fawcett Foundation (JFF), Bali Health Services Foundation (YPK Bali), and Indobat, to conduct the Health Services for the Community agenda in Kesiman Kertalangu Village.
This event, held at Balai Banjar Tohpati, Kesiman Kertalangu, East Denpasar, involves the Psychology Program team from the Undiknas Health Faculty. The aim of this activity is to provide quality health services to the local community, as well as to educate them about the importance of mental health and psychology.
Participants from the Banjar Tohpati Kertalangu area have the opportunity to access various health services, including blood pressure, blood sugar, height, and weight checks. Additionally, there are eye health check-ups and cataract surgeries, physiotherapy sessions, consultations with general practitioners for medical complaints, and counseling sessions with psychology experts from Undiknas, accompanied by the dean of the health science faculty, Dr. Kadek Januarsa Adi Sudharma S.H., M.H., C.P.C.L.E., C.Med., CCD.
Through the strong collaboration between Undiknas and health partners, it is hoped that this activity can provide significant benefits to the people of Kesiman Kertalangu Village and its surroundings. In addition to meeting the need for health services, this event also aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and psychology in the community, especially for the younger generation, who are the nation’s future assets.
As the Dean, Dr. Kadek Januarsa Adi Sudharma S.H., M.H., C.P.C.L.E., C.Med., CCD, expressed that this community service activity is also the first step in introducing the new Psychology study program that currently exists at Undiknas.
He also expressed his commitment to change the stigma in society where the need for counseling with a psychologist is not synonymous with mental disorders.
“Through this activity, the Undiknas psychology team tries to encourage the community to get used to and be brave enough to have counseling sessions with psychologists, not necessarily when there are mental disorders first,” he said in an interview session.
Furthermore, counseling sessions can provide a place for community members to seek logical answers to various problems they are facing or simply to find new perspectives to overcome mental blockages.
